We spend a great deal of time thinking about how things breakdown in the river. One way to help answer that...is to put a camera trap on a carcass and watch what happens over time. Here is a short example of the type of footage that we typically get from our cameras. This video is from a dead hippo in the river that probably died during a territorial dispute a few days prior. Pole hippo....(pronounced "pol-ay", means "sorry" in Swahili).
