Amanda's sugar fix....

Amanda had no clue I was taking these pictures. We were traveling between Kisumu, Kenya and Musoma, Tanzania when a sugar craving kicked in. We stopped to use a restroom and Amanda saw a sugar cane vendor on the side of the road. This is what transpired...

Amanda is thinking, "I don't speak Swahili so how am I going to explain to these people that I need some sugar."

Amanda is trying to explain that she only wants a small portion of the sugar cane...and not the entire five foot long piece.

They were quite good. Once you tear through the outer portion, you bite a chunk of the center off and suck the sugar out. Her sugar fix was satisfied for that day...with minor cuts to her gums but no chipped teeth.
