Frog Diversity

Check these two guys out.  They were both found at practically the same spot on the bank of the Mara near the New Mara Bridge.  We were just getting ready to sample in some emergent vegetation on the river bank for macroinvertebrates and the big one caught our eye first.  The little puddle frog came out of hiding shortly thereafter.

That second one looks quite delicious.

Did you guys find a nice place to stay in the Triangle?

Will, we did, thanks to your advice. Although...it was raining pretty hard as we were making our way up from the New Mara Bridge...we didn't make it much further past Serena before it got dark. We tried to follow our map and our gps but it was raining so hard we couldn't tell when we got off the vehicle track. Finally we started driving into a small riparian forest when all of the sudden, there was a toilet right in front of us!? Turns out that we were still on the tracks and they led us straight to some kind of small camp site? It was right on the edge of the Mara because as we looked to the right, there were about 15 surprised Hippos looking at us from about 10 meters away. As we were driving out the next morning we finally figured out that it was probably a Serena bush lunch camp site possibly? Still not sure but we'll show you on the map next time we see you.
